Sports Myofascial Therapy in San Diego

Sports Myofascial Therapy is hands-on soft tissue work for athletes and active adults. At ELATE in North Park, San Diego, a 60-minute session uses cupping, IASTM scraping, and Myofascial Release Technique (MRT) on the superficial tissues to improve short-term mobility and reduce the sensation of tightness around the shoulders, hips, and legs.

60 minutes. $190.

What it's for

Training puts repeated load through the same tissues. That can leave you with stiffness, reduced range of motion, or a sensation of tightness that doesn't ease with stretching alone. Sports myofascial work is used alongside movement recommendations based on your presentation, training demands, and goals.

The three tools

Cupping. Gentle suction applied to the skin to temporarily increase local circulation in the area. Used for training-related tightness in the shoulders, hips, and legs.

IASTM scraping. A smooth-edged instrument drawn across the skin, often referred to as scraping or instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), used to address stiffness and the sensation of tightness.

Myofascial Release Technique (MRT). Manual, hands-on work applied to the superficial tissues with the goal of improving short-term mobility and movement comfort.

Which tools we use depends on what's contributing to the problem that day. The focus is understanding what's going on, then choosing the tool that fits.

Who it's for

Lifters between hard sessions, runners logging miles, CrossFitters, surfers, and pickleball and volleyball players around North Park and greater San Diego who are experiencing training-related stiffness, movement restrictions, or a sensation of tightness.
